Query page contains a certain number of fields for entry of bibliographic data search criteria. Each field differs according to the type of the
data to be searched, such as:
Industrial property search comprises searches of:
Search windows differ depending on whether trademarks, patents, industrial designs or international trademark registrations are searched.
Searching logic is the same only the fields for defining the search criteria are different.
First, select a field you want to search from the field menu (column 1), then, select an operator from the operator menu (column 2)
and finally, enter a desired search criterion in the query criteria field.
All the fields are mutually connected by a logic operator AND, each individual field allowing the entry of several different criteria connected
by operator OR or AND.
Characters
Searches of industrial property published by SIPO support use of all the characters defined by Windows 1250/ANSI Standards for
computer presentation of Central and Western European characters. Specific characters missing in the Croatian keyboard may be typed in
two ways:
- by using (left) ALT control key on the computer keyboard and corresponding Win 1250/ANSI decimal code (table of codes).
NOTE: When quoting decimal character codes, leading zeroes, as presented in the table of codes, have to be quoted as well. ANSI decimal codes are marked green, meaning that the quotation thereof by typing or copying requires change of the code page in the Windows environment, or selection of Western European values in the View->Encoding Menu available on the Internet Explorer.
- by copying a representation of a desired specific character (table of codes) in the search criteria field.
NOTE: The table of codes contains all the alphanumeric characters presented in Latin-2 (ISO-8859-2) and Latin-1 (ISO-8859-1) code pages!
Examples of quoting specific characters in query forms: |
- International trademark registrations the verbal element of which contains letter t:
| A result of the quoted search will contain the following verbal names: |
| |
- Ctte d'Or
- LANCTME
|
- RHTNE-POULENC
- choctne
|
- All the published applications and rights relating to domestic trademarks involving KRA
as applicant/holder:
| A result of the quoted search will contain the names of the following applicants/holders: |
| |
- Kra, prehrambena industrija d.d.
|
| |
- KRA
, prehrambena industrija d.d.
|
|
The above mentioned examples show that the search is case-insensitive, meaning that irrespective of whether the search criteria is indicated in small or capital letters, the result will contain all the rights/applications meeting the content of the criteria!
Operators
- =
- >
- <
- >=
- <=
- LIKE
Used for comparison of character values (strings)
Field Like pattern
If the value of the field matches the pattern as indicated, the result is True, otherwise is False.
Definition of patterns:
When comparing or searching character values, it is very important to define well a matching pattern.
Matching pattern characters are as follows:
| ? | replacing one character |
| * | replacing zero or several characters |
Example 1:
| Representative: LIKE CP* | all the representatives whose name starts with CP |
Example 2: We want to find all trademark holders involving LEK in their names. In such a case the search criteria will be:
| Holder: LIKE *LEK* |
| The search result will include the following companies/persons: |
- LEK, Ljubljana
- Ljubljanske Mlekarne
- Servis elektronihkih urepaja
- Lekif
- Etc...
