Notification on the amendments to the acts in the field of industrial property to be published

We notify the users on the following acts published in the Official Gazette No. 46/2018, of 18 May 2018:

• The Act on Amendments to the Patent Act,
• The Act on Amendments to the Trademarks Act,
• The Act on Amendments to the Industrial Design Act,
• The Act on Amendments to the Act on Geographical Indications and Designations of Origin of Products and Services and
• The Act on Amendments to the Act on the Protection of Topographies of Semiconductor Products.

The Act on Amendments to the Patent Act repeals the Boards of Appeal in the field of industrial property rights (hereinafter: Boards of Appeal) as a second instance authority in all the procedures of granting industrial property under the responsibility of the SIPO. Consequently, other acts in the field of industrial property have been amended in the provisions referring to the institution of the Boards of Appeal regulated by the Patent Act; thus, the amendments to the act provide for the right of appeal to be submitted to the Administrative Court in Zagreb against first instance decisions rendered by the SIPO for granting industrial property rights.
