The examination process and patent granting

After one of the specified requests for examination have been filed, the Office carries out a corresponding procedure of examination of the substance of a patent application. Depending on the chosen examination procedure, the procedure may result in the grant of a patent for the proposed invention, if all the prescribed requirements are complied with, or in the refusal of a request for the patent grant, if such requirements are not complied with.

If it has been established in a corresponding procedure that the patent application complies with the prescribed requirements, the Office communicates to the applicant, for his approval, a text of the application on the basis of which it intends to grant a patent. After receipt of the approval and payment of the prescribed charges, the Office issues a decision on the grant of a patent and the patent is entered in the Register of Patents. A corresponding Patent Certificate and Patent Specification may be issued on request.

After payment of the procedural charges, the data concerning the granted patent are published in the Office official gazette.
