EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) – new name for the largest EU Agency

EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) – new name for the largest EU Agency

PRESS RELEASE

23rd of March

The Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) has today changed its name to the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

The change comes about as a result of the entry into force of Regulation (EU) 2015/2424 of the European Parliament and of the Council.

The name of the Community trade mark changes to the European Union trade mark (EUTM). The fees payable to the Office will also change, resulting in an overall reduction in their amounts.

EUIPO has processed more than 1.5 million trade mark applications from nearly every country and region in the world since its foundation in 1994.

ABOUT EUIPO

EUIPO is the EU’s largest decentralised agency, based in Alicante, Spain. It manages the registration of the European Union trade mark (EUTM) and the registered Community design (RCD), both of which provide intellectual property protection in all 28 Member States of the EU.  (Press dossier)
