The first conference on copyright, titled “Navigating Copyright Together in an Evolving Digital Landscape”, organised by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) was held at its premises in Alicante on 20th and 21st November 2025.

The conference was organised on the occasion of launching the Copyright Knowledge Centre at the EUIPO, as a central spot intended to provide clear and reliable information on copyright and related rights, and as a place for right holders, institutions and stakeholders to exchange opinions and to find solutions related to challenges in the field of copyright and related rights brought by new technologies.

The EUIPO has been already dealing so far with copyright raising awareness, developing tools such as portals for the orphan works and out of commerce works, and by supporting the European Commission in its work on combating live event piracy. With the Copyright Knowledge Centre, the EUIPO intends to take its work to the next level, with a mission to inform, engage and explore solutions for copyright and related rights in order to further stimulate creativity and innovation in Europe.

At the conference that officially launched the Copyright Knowledge Centre, experts from EU institutions, national offices, academia and creative industries discussed current challenges in the field of copyright and related rights, as well as the development of the digital market and the needs of creators and users of protected works in the digital environment.

Director General, Ljiljana Kuterovac, and Head of Independent Service for Copyright, European and International Affairs, Daniela Kuštović Kokot, participated at the conference and the launch of the Copyright Knowledge Centre as representatives of the State Intellectual Property Office; and Prof. Romana Matanovac Vučković, PhD, participated also in the conference as a special advisor to the Minister of Culture and Media.

More about the conference is available here, and here you can access the EUIPO’s webpage of the Copyright Knowledge Centre, where you can also find the comparison between copyright systems in the EU Member States.
