Croatia joins the Federated European Patent Register
The Federated European Patent Register started retrieving official bibliographic and legal status information from the Croatian Register. This service supports European Patents which have entered into the national phase in Croatia, filed from 1.1.2008 onwards.

EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) – new name for the largest EU Agency
The Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM) has today changed its name to the European Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). The change comes about as a result of the entry into force of Regulation (EU) 2015/2424 of the European Parliament and of the Council. The name of the Community trade mark changes to the European Union trade mark (EUTM). The fees payable to the Office will also change, resulting in an overall reduction in their amounts.

A press conference was held on 23rd February 2016 to launch the national campaign on risks related to online purchase of counterfeit and pirated goods under the slogan “Don't buy a cat in a poke“ featuring representatives of public administration authorities and institutions involved in the coordination mechanism of intellectual property enforcement, under which mechanism the campaign is run.

New Search Function for Patents on Your Mobile
The European Patent Office (EPO) has added mobile beta versions of its main search services Espacenet and the European Patent Register. This means that anyone anywhere can now conduct a patent search in the EPO’s databases – the world’s largest free collection of technical information – on the move, using a smartphone.

Notification on Amended Method of Calculating the Duration of the Supplementary Protection Certificate
Pursuant to the judgement C-471/14 SIPO Croatia shall change the method of calculation the duration of the SPC in the way that the date of notification of the decision on authorisation given to the party shall be considered relevant rather than the date of granting the authorisation, which was the former practice of the Office. The method of calculating pursuant to the ruling C-471/14 shall apply to all the requests for granting SPCs filed with the Office until 6 October 2015 or later and still pending with the Office.

After Deutsches Museum in Munich and Città della Scienza in Naples, the travelling exhibition of the European Patent Office „European Inventors Hall of Fame“ has been solemnly opened on 2nd July 2015 at the Technical Museum in Zagreb.
