Visit of Executive Director of the European Union Intellectual Property Office to Croatia

Mr. João Negrão, Executive Director of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), was on an official visit to the Republic of Croatia from 30 March until 1 April, 2026, organised by the State Intellectual Property Office. The visit of Mr. Negrão was accompanied by Mr. Sandris Laganovskis as well, Director of the EUIPO’s Cooperation and Partnerships Department.

The visit comprised a number of meetings with the state authorities of the Republic of Croatia – with the State Intellectual Property Office as a national partner authority, with the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth and the Ministry of Culture and Media as line ministries, and with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs; the meeting was held also with the Croatian Chamber of Patent Representatives and Representatives for Trademarks as an organisation to gather the largest users of the protection system of intellectual property rights under responsibility of the EUIPO.

At the meeting with representatives of the State Intellectual Property Office, the Office was represented by Ms Ljiljana Kuterovac, Director General, Ms Irena Tušek, Director General Deputy, Mr. Saša Pigac, Head of Digital Business and Quality Department, Ms Daniela Kuštović Kokot, Head of Independent Service for Copyright and European and International Affairs and Ms Tea Majerski, Head of Service for Trademark, Industrial Design and Geographical Indications Registration Affairs at Trademark and Industrial Design Department, whereas Mr. Negrão, on behalf of the EUIPO, was accompanied at the meeting by Mr. Sandris Laganovskis as well, Director of Cooperation and Partnerships Department. In the meeting, it was discussed about the EUIPO’s current activities and the Strategic Plan until 2030, the status and further strengthening of mutual cooperation and legislative proposals in the field of the intellectual property protection system.

In addition to the meeting at the Office, Mr. Negrao and Mr. Laganovskis were accompanied by Ms Kuterovac to meet Mr. Radovan Fuchs, Minister, Mr. Hrvoje Meštrić, Director of Science and Technology Office at the Ministry of Science, Education and Youth, Mr. Krešimir Partl, State Secretary at the Ministry of Culture and Media, and Ms Terezija Gras, Director of Directorate-General for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. At the meeting with the Croatian Chamber of Patent Representatives and Representatives for Trademarks, the Chamber was represented by its President, Mr. Tomislav Hadžija, as well as Ms Sanja Vukina, Ms Ivana Ervaćanin, Ms Albina Dlačić, Ms Nika Bošković and Ms Iva Kuštrak Managić.
